Ireland Education System

Ireland’s education system follows the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) to control the standards of qualifications. It allows students, as long as their student visa conditions are met, to transfer from one stage of study to another. Although the NFQ requirements are aligned with the European Qualification System, the degree is internationally recognized and approved.

The Study Levels are – Pre-primary, Primary, Post-primary, Further Education & Training, Higher Education, Bachelor’s Degree, Honours Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, Doctoral Degree.

in particular, Ireland has 7 universities, 7 colleges of education, 15 private institutions of higher education and 14 Institutes of Technology (IoT). in Ireland, there are a few additional third-level private institutions providing professional education in fields such as business studies, art and architecture, law, medicine, etc.

English Language Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree: 5.0 Bands with no individual band less than 5.0

Student Visa Requirements For Ireland

  • A current passport or other valid travel documentation
  • Letter of acceptance from a recognized Irish institution
  • Valid passport for 12 months i.e. after your proposed date of arrival in Ireland
  • Passport-sized colour photographs
  • The score of an English language proficiency test such as IELTS
  • Proof of fee payment
  • Evidence of funds (€7,000) to provide your living expenses
  • Evidence that accounts for any gaps in your educational history (if any)

Post Study Work Rights

If you are enrolled as a full-time student, with an Irish accredited degree, and have the Visa Stamp 2, you may qualify for the Third Level Graduate Scheme.
The steps to the process are as follows –

  1. Students can apply for a non-renewable extension of up to 2 years after course completion. This extension is granted for the purpose of finding suitable employment.
  2. Later on, you can apply for a green card (renamed Critical Skills Employment Permit) or work permit (renamed General Employment Permit).
